BookmarkingThis is a featured page

Social bookmarking is a way of storing, organising, searching, and managing web pages on the Internet. This is like using browser based favourites, but they are accessible from anywhere because the programs used are web-based.

You can save links to web pages that you want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, or shared only with specified people or groups.

You organise your bookmarks with informal tags instead browser-based folders, although some services feature categories/folders or a combination of folders and tags. They also enable viewing bookmarks associated with a chosen tag, and include information about the number of users who have bookmarked them.

Many services provide web feeds or RSS for their lists of bookmarks, including lists organized by tags. This allows you to become aware of new bookmarks as they are saved, shared, and tagged by other users.

The social bookmarking that we use at Scottish CILT is Delicious.
